About Our Unit
Company D of the 7th Tennessee is dedicated to preserving the memory of the men and women involved in the Civil War.
We are family-oriented, in that our camp life is equally as important to us as our military representation. We want to look sharp on the field of battle, know our drill manual, and do whatever necessary to bring battle scenarios to life. We also believe that by providing civilian scenarios to the public, we can add another, often-overlooked dimension, of the Civil War. We welcome and encourage civilian impressions, such as, politicians, journalists, visiting wives and families, and itinerant musicians. All these impressions add flavor and diversity to our hobby! |
Authenticity in attire, gear, and behavior is also important to us. We do allow the use of certain modern conveniences at the discretion of the individual, but we do insist that such items be put away, or otherwise disguised, during the hours the camp is open to the public. Wooden boxes, blankets, gum blankets, and canvas cover can be fine camouflage for anything "modern."
Finally, we like to have fun; a quality living history portrayal and fun are not mutually exclusive! This is a hobby meant to be enjoyed.
